Baby Shower

I went to my best friend's baby shower today and it was a nice change from your run of the mill baby showers.  There were no games, no opening of presents, and no baby-themed decorations.  It was a lovely luncheon, and we took unwrapped gifts for her daughter who was born at the end of September. The gifts were displayed on the beautifully decorated gift table with each person's name card in front of their gift.  We wrote a note to the baby to put in a time capsule that she will open at her 16th birthday and we looked at everyone's gifts as we went to put the note into the capsule.  It was a nice change of pace and I was wondering if anyone else had ever been to a nontraditional shower?

  1. Wow! I have never been to a baby shower like that. It sounds so different than the "normal" baby showers that I am so used to. What a wonderful idea! I like how you didn't have to be there for an agonizing hour of opening gifts that no one really wants to sit through! I love that there were no games either! I dread going to baby showers because of the games! How cute that everyone wrote notes to the baby to put in a time capsule! I wish more people would try something different like this!

  2. I've never been to a nontraditional baby shower like this. This is definitely different! I was the hostess of my sister's baby shower in September and it was very traditional with all the things you mentioned. Maybe we'll consider this for the next bundle of joy.
